Construction Schedule & Activity Updates

Project Update: Week of January 19, 2024

Construction crews will be installing Elevator 1 this week while also working on the installation of finishes and furnishings in apartments designated as model units to show prospective residents later in the spring. Clapboard siding has begun to be placed on the exterior when weather conditions allow crews to work safely and products to be installed properly. inside the building, subcontractors are continuing to complete drywall, flooring, insulation, countertop templating and other items.

General Schedule

The general contractor managing day-to-day activity on this project is Cranshaw Construction, based in Newton Lower Falls. Founded in 1983, the company has built more than 35 million square feet of space in Boston and its surrounding metro area. 

 

Construction is expected to be completed in March 2025. This page will provide regular updates on site activity.

 

Here is a general outline of what to expect in the months ahead:

 

September to December 2024 - In the final four months of 2024, crews working under the direction of Cranshaw Construction will be completing the structural framing for the building and making it weather tight so that work cam continue inside during inclement weather.

Permanent roofing will be completed, and dry wall will be installed, followed by painting and the installation of doors and flooring in choreographed sequence. The elevator and rooftop mechanical components also will be put into place, along with the installation of exterior siding.

Inspections to confirm that construction is adhering to Passive House environmental standards will continue throughout the process.
